Coppice Primary

Planting the seeds of
Knowledge,
growth and
success

Monday 4th January 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are shocked and saddened by the announcement made by Boris Johnson tonight that all schools need to close. We obviously know this is the right thing to do to help in the fight against Covid-19 but it is disappointing that this has happened last minute as we were so looking forward to seeing everyone in the morning.

We are now having to make new plans and in order to do this we will need our teachers to use tomorrow to plan for home learning to be ready to share these with you for Wednesday 6th January onwards. Therefore, there will be no home learning available tomorrow. Teachers will email you tomorrow afternoon with details about what home learning will look like during this national lockdown.

We will, however, be open from Tuesday 5th January for critical workers and vulnerable children who can access schools or education settings. Please see the list below provided by the government. If you are not sure if you are eligible then please give us a ring at school tomorrow morning and we will support you. Children accessing this provision would be in small groups working with school staff on a daily basis following the same learning set for the children working at home. In order to help us plan for this and to ensure we have the correct number of staff in each group please complete the form attached to this and send it back to school ASAP to your child’s class email address, their teacher will forward this on to Mrs Seaton and someone will contact you at some point tomorrow.

If you are a key worker and you do not have any alternative provision then we will support with childcare tomorrow you will need to offer proof of your status.  If this is the case could you ring school at 7:30 am and speak with a member of staff.  You will then need to bring your child to school via the main school entrance at 8:30am. We might need to adjust this in the future once we know the number of children coming into school.

School dinners will continue to be provided as usual for the children from Reception to Year Six who attend school and Nursery children will finish at 11.30am as normal.

We are sorry this has happened at such short notice. We only find out the information at the same time as you which is so frustrating as we cannot plan too far ahead.   Please stay safe and stay strong in these difficult times. We are an amazing Coppice community and together we will get through this.

Many thanks,

Mrs A J Seaton

Headteacher
